Since 1982, this library has been providing training for candidates appearing for Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations.
A notable incident occurred in 1984, when 14 candidates who trained at the Paravoor Public Library were included in the top 100
ranks of the LDC (Lower Division Clerk) rank list. This caught the attention of the PSC Vigilance Department, which conducted a
direct inquiry into the matter. It was this investigation that brought the library’s training program to public attention.
Following this, many other libraries began offering similar training programs, using Paravoor Public Library as a model.
It is a matter of pride that the library has contributed approximately 300 government employees to various civil services.
The PSC classes have been handled since 1982 by Mr. K. Rajan (Retired Joint Registrar, Cooperative Department),
who continues to lead the classes even today.
Various programs are also conducted through several groups under the library, such as:
Aksharakkoottam (Children’s Literacy Club)
Yuvatha (Youth Club)
Vimukthi Club (Anti-Addiction Club)
Akshara Sena (Literacy Army)
Vanitha Vedi (Women’s Forum)
Vayojana Vedi (Senior Citizens’ Forum)
Uzhavu Organic Farming Collective
Under the leadership of the Uzhavu collective, an organic vegetable market is organized every Saturday in front of the library.
Monthly book discussions are organized by the Paravoor Public Library in association with the Women’s Forum. This program introduces
readers to new books and authors and plays a key role in cultivating interest in reading.
Every Sunday, under the guidance of the Balavedi (Children’s Forum), children gather at the library for various cultural activities
and group interactions.
